Questions with か (ka)

Add ka to the end of a sentence to make it a question.

Kore wa hon desuKore wa hon desu ka
(This is a book → Is this a book?)

Note that the word order does not change.

  • use nani (what) to ask about things
  • use dare (who) to ask about people
  • use dou (how) to ask about condition or state

Example sentences

  1. Anata wa dare desu ka - Who are you?

  2. Kore wa nani desu ka - What is this?

  3. Shigoto wa dou desu ka - How is your work?

  4. Anata no kankei wa nani desu ka - What is your relationship?

  5. Dare o hanasu desu ka - Who do you tell?

  6. Hito wa dare desu ka - Who is that person?

  7. Anata no kokoro wa dou desu ka - How is your heart?

  8. Nani o miru desu ka - What do you see?
